Hi, I'm Acacia Aben. This isn't my first story that I've written, but this is the first one I've posted. It takes place after the Sailor Galaxia battle, and it involves Serena running away from home. I've only written up to part three so far, and I'd love any advice of any sort. You can sent comments, suggestions, and (I hope not!) flames to bwarner@bright.net. Kay? Now on with the story. Wait, I forgot the disclaimer!! Sailor Moon obviously doesn't belong to me. I'm poor, and if you sued me, you wouldn't get anything anyway, so please don't!!! "....." -speaking '.....' -thinking [....] author's comment --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To Lose Love Part One --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Serena blinked back tears. She was leaving home. Not for college, but just to leave. The clock rang midnight. She fifnished stuffing her clothes, the ones she had chosen, the ones that didn't remind her of Darien. Her Darien. Her only love. She closed the suitcase. Darien had been her boyfriend, the one she was meant to be with for the rest of her life. Had bee, not anymore. He had broken up with her four hours before. The worst day of her life. He had taken her out on a date. Their anniversary. Five years to the day she had found out he was Tuxedo Mask, and he had found out she was Sailor Moon. The day they found out they were meant to be together forever. Like peanut butter and jelly. Or HAD gone together. He had been distant. Quiet. But that had not been unusual. Darien was by nature a quiet person. Unlike her. She had been bubbly, happy. Like usual. She had been sweet, and had told him she loved him. He had responded by breaking up with her. She hadn't seen it coming. She sat in shock for a few seconds, clearly not believing it. This was Darien. Her Darien. He would never break up with her, not after all they'd been through. He repeated his decision. He wanted to break up with her. Things weren't working out. He needed space. She had run away from the restaurant. She had walked through the park, then come into the house quietly, which was hard for her. She was clumsy. She fumbled around for her bookbag, to fish out a piece of paper. She quickly wrote something down, then copied it again on another peice of paper, so Luna, who was sleeping on her bed, would have one to give to the scouts. Everyone would know she had been crying, the tearsatins would take care of that, but she didn't care. She placed it reverently on her pillow. She filled her knapsack with things she would need, then she walked silently out of her house. She headed down the street, towards the airport. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She waited. She couldn't buy a ticket, not without her family being able to trace her, but she was determined to find some way to get one. She slid down in a seat, tired. 'I should be home in bed,' she thought. 'Instead I'm here running away forever.' Tears pricked her eyes, but she blinked them away. The she heard the voice. "I have a ticket to Los Angeles here! Anybody need a ticket?" She jerked her head up, focused on finding the owner of the voice. A man in a suit was waving it above his head. He looked like he was in a hurry. "I need one! How much?" Serena yelled, running over to him, and nearly crashing into him. He looked relieved, and he was smart, ahving jumped out of the way before getting hit by her. "I bought it by mistake.I need to get these off my hands." Serena was silent a moment. She was better at English than she had been, almost fluent. America was supposed to be great. She would go to America. "d like to buy them, how much?" He grinned, relieved. "Four hundred dollars." Serena blinked that would only leave her six hundred to start a new life. She had been saving up for a car, and had brought everything with her. "Okay." It was enough to last a couple of months, if she had to. Most likely she would have a job long before then. After she'd piad him, read the time the flight was supposed to take off, she realized she had fifteen minutes to get to gate thirteen. She ran, and made it just in time. She sat down and waited for a new life to come to her. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Buckle your seat belts, the plane will be landing soon." Serena jerked awake form a deep sleep. It had been a five hour flight, and she had fallen asleep almost instantly, after all, she hadn't slept all night. She buckled her seat belt, and closed her eyes, guessing that landing would be as bad as taking off, which she had hated. She grippped her armrests. "Hey calm down, it's not that bad." a deep male voice said from beside her. The voice was laced with amusement. Serena opened her eyes to see dark brown eyes looking at her. "Excusse me?" He blinked. "Do you know English?" He was very handsome, with shoulder length blond hair, and deep brown eyes. He looked smart, because he had glasses, but they were small glasses, not like Melvin's They were small, and looked great on him. Serena turned red. She'd been speaking in Japanese, to his English. "Yes, I do. Not very well though." He smiled. "Good. I was just trying to say, landing isn't bad. Just relax. I've been flying lots of times, and it's never bothered me before.Don't let it bother you." Serena grimaced. "Easy for you to say. I get scared a lot." She shoved away thoughts of Darien. This guy was cute, but she could just be friends with him. The man smiled at her embarrassed tone. "Just don't think about it. By the way, I'm Lance Miller, pleased to meet you." Serena smiled at him. "I'm Serena Tsukino.," she said, remembering just in time to say her last name after her first name. "Pleased to meet you. Thanks for your advice." Lance smiled. "No problem. What are you doing going to Los Angeles? It's a big city, you could get hurt. How old are you?" Serena felt bubbles of anger rise. "I'm old enough, and why is it any of your business?" Lance raised his hands in a surrender sign. ""I was just trying to take your mind off the fact that the plane is landing." Serena felt all her anger drain away. He was right, they were landing. 'God, I feel stupid.' But the good thing was, she wasn't the slightest bit scared. She smiled sheepishly at him. "Um, well sorry. I'm nineteen, old enough. And as why I'm coming here, it was the only ticket available." Lance smiled at her. "Oh, well that's cool. I'm twenty three. I'm not actually coming to Los Angeles, I'm taking a bus to my hometown, Northton, Nevada. It's beautiful there, all the plateaus and valleys. Everybody knows everybody else. The temp's hot, but I like it." Serena nodded slowly. She was beginning to understand that maybe Los Angeles wasn't the best place for her to go. "Can I come with you? I mean, I need some where to go, and I have a feeling here isn't my best choice. Do you know where I can buy a ticket?" Lance's eyes widened. "Well, I don't see why you couldn't come. But I have an extra ticket. I was visiting Japan with a friend, but he decided to stay longer. I have his ticket in my bag." Serena grinned. "How much do you want for it?" Lance shook his head. "Free. If you need a place to stay, you can stay with my family. I don't live at home, and my mom loves guests. She love having you stay." Serena frowned. "I can't just let you give me the ticket. I wouldn't feel right. And are you sure your mom wouldn't mind?" Lance frowned back, and answered firmly. They both ignored the planes jerks and jolts which was really hard to do. "I'm not goign to let you pay for it, so just forget it. And my mom would kill me if I didn't invite you, so that answers that." Serena was tempted. The planes landing was scary, and she was halfway to agreeing. "All right, but I'll find some way to repay you, you hear me?" Lance smiled, satisfied. "Good." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Luna woke up slowly.Serena never woke up before noon on a Saturday, and and with staying out so late on her date with Darien, Luna expected to spend the next hour trying to wake her up for the scout meeting at eleven thirty. She glanced lazily at the clock. Eleven. She groaned. Serena would be late again. It was then that Luna noticed it. Serena's bed was empty, and made. Serena had never slept in it. Luna felt fear rising in her throat. There was a piece of paper on her pillow. That was bad, she walked up to the pillow, and read the note. She moaned, grabbed the top paper, and ran out the door. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Raye's face turned red with anger. "She did WHAT???? HOW COULD SHE? THAT MEATBALL HEAD!" Amy looked anxious. "Let me see the note. Maybe I can make some thing out of it." Luna nodded. "Yes Amy, but I don't think you'll find anything. She just took off. I noticed some of her clothes are missing, along with pictures, identification, money, adn other things. She really left." She brought the note over to Amy. Amy took the note, and read it aloud, To Whom It May Concern, I had to do this. I made the decision, so don't think you could have stopped me. I'm soory, if you are worried about me, but this is something I had to do. I'll be fine. I'll finish school, and I promise that! Maybe I'll do really good. I will come home, but only when I'm able to face everyhting that's happened in my life lately. I really am sorry. Forever yours, Serena Tsukino Amy trailed off, tears in her voice. Everyone was crying. Lita was the one to voice the thought all of them had been thinking. "What is going on in her life. I thought everything was good. It's been normal around here." Mina cleared her throat. "Not exactly." Raye turned to her, and so did everyone else. "What does that mean?" Mina looked sick. "Serena called last night, around midnight. Darien broke up with her again. She sounded really upset, and I think she was calling from a pay phone in the park." Raye pressed harder. "What did she say?" Mina hesitated. "What did she say?" Raye asked again. Mina answered this time. "He was cold to her, and she said he really meant it. She wanted advice." Lita said slowly, after the long pause. "And what advice did you give her Cupid?" Mina practically choked on the words. "I told her to get away for a while. To get some air. I'm sorry, I practically gave her permission to run away. What have I done?" Raye lost it. "Are you crazy? You know she couldn't handle it! And you didn't think of that at the time? You are so stupid!" Lita was silent, only saying, "Mina, oh Mina." Amy calmed Raye. "It wasn't your fault. You couldn't have known she's take it like that. And further more, I don't think what you said had any effect on her decision. This was her idea, her responsibility. You couldn't have stopped her, like she said, you shouldn't blame yourself." Mina started crying softly. "I guess you're right, but where do you think she is?" Lita shook her head. "Probably in the place we'd least expect. But the real question is: who's going to tell Darien?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Serena stared out the window of the bus in fascination. She had been riding for seven hours, and the view was wonderful. They had entered Nevada two hours ago, and it was glorious. Brown plains and high plateaus. She had never seen anything like it in her life. Lance had fallen asleep on the chair beside her, but he had loved the expression of rapture on her face. He had laughed, telling her it was even more beautiful around his house. It actually reminded her of the moon, a little. It had been rocky, and barren in some places too. he had asked him about school, and he had said she would probably go with his nineteen year old sister, also a senior. She was really nervous. "I wonder what his sister's like?" Serena mused. Lance had told her that her name was Jennifer, but everyone called her Jennie, because she would kill them if they didn't. "I hope she'll like me." "What did you say?" Lance said drowsily from beside her, just waking up. She had been speaking in Japanese. Serena smiled out the window. "Nothing. How long till we get there?" Lance checked his watch. "Not long, maybe another hour." Serena blinked. "Great!" Lance settled back to sleep, and Serena turned her thoughts back to other things. Like Darien. They had been datingt for five years, with one or two break-ups in between. She had thought that they would be together forever. And now they were apart. Forever. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ End of Part One!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Did you like it so far? I'll try to get more up soon! Please e-amil me! I love getting comments!!! Bye!!! -Acacia
