Hello, it's me, Acacia Aben--again. Well, I know that a lot of you want me to finish my other story "To Lose Love." Well, I'm still going to be finishing it very soon, but I have started this one. I hope as many people e-mail me as many compliments as you have for "To Lose Love." I love getting all of them. Which is my subtle way of saying that I want you to e-mail me your comments. My e-mail address is bwarner@bright.net, so please e-mail me! I'd like to thank Lady Guinevere for her unconditional support, and advice. You have been a wonderful advisor and friend. Please read her story, "Ami's Diaries", which an thoroughly excellent story. It isn't finished yet, but she's working hard! ^_^ I'd also like to thank my other good friend, Bettina. I met her when she e-mailed me about "To Lose Love." She's really nice, and has given me a lot of confidence. Thank you, Bettina! Disclaimer- I do not own Sailor Moon, and except for being a huge fan, I have nothing to do with anything about her. However, Pamela/Faye/Faith belongs to me, and so will other characters that will come in later in the story. Well, I can't think of anything else to say, so on with the story! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finding Faith- Prologue and Chapter One By Acacia Aben --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Prologue A woman screamed in the confines of the birthing room. A man paced restlessly in the hallway. He grabbed a doctor that was just coming out of the room. "How is she?" He demanded. The doctor smiled. "You have two beautiful daughters. Identical twins. Your wife is just fine. You can go in to see them now." Kenji smiled, relieved that his wife was okay. The, very quickly, amazement took hold. "Twins! That's great!" The doctor smiled at the proud father. He led Kenji in to see his wife, Irene. Irene smiled at him, holding the babies on either side. "Aren't they beautiful?" She looked down at the two girls. They both had fuzzy peach-blond hair, that would turn golden in time. She kissed them each on the top of their head. Kenji reached out and brushed the hair of one. "Two babies. That's wonderful. They are beautiful. How will we tell them apart?" Irene smiled, pleased at the answer. "Their eyes are different colors. The older has blue eyes, and the younger has gray eyes." As she said this, Kenji realized she was right. Identical in every respect, but one. They had different eye colors. One had crystal-bright blue eyes, like the sky on a summer day. The other had dove-like stormy gray eyes. He smiled. "What will we name them?" Irene smiled down a the two innocent babies, and smiled when she saw they had fallen asleep. "We'll name the older the name we decided on if it was a girl, Serena." They smiled down at the baby on the right, the one that had shown her clear blue eyes. Kenji nodded. "Serena it is. What about the other? What will we name her?" Irene's brow furrowed in thought. A smile broke out. "Faye. She'll be our Faye." Kenji nodded, smiling at the rightness of the name. It just seemed to fit her. "Faye it is. Faye she'll be." ------------------------------------------------------------------- Irene looked nervously at the babies. "You'll watch very carefully?" The woman nodded. "Of course. Now you go and have a good time at your dinner." Irene looked carefully at the babies, uncertain as to whether she should be going out at all. "Keep them together. They like it better when they are in the same cradle." Karen, the baby-sitter, who had come with great recommendations, smiled. "Of course. They are twins, after all." Irene smiled, and Kenji took her arm, and they walked out the door. It had taken a lot of time for Kenji to convince Irene to go out. But, finally, he had, and they were going to go to a quick dinner. Karen closed the door, and took in the view of the two babies, and smiled quickly as Faye gave her a huge baby smile. Serena spit up. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Irene and Kenji walked up the driveway of their house. But suddenly she noticed a sound coming from the house. The door seemed to be open a crack, and loud cries were coming from the opening. She didn't hesitate. She ripped her arm away from her husband's and ran toward the house, with him following quickly after her. She shoved open the door, only to see Serena in her cradle, placed in the center of the room. And she was the only baby. Faye was gone Irene slid slowly to the floor, crying softly. "Oh, no. I never should have left." Kenji ran to the phone, and called the police. Serena screamed louder. Irene picked up Serena and, sobbing, held her close. ------------------------------------------------------------------- On the other side of the city, at the same time, a car was speeding down the roads, screeching wildly when it made turns. Inside, Karen Jackson smiled brightly. "I always wanted a baby girl, and now I've got one." Unfortunately, she didn't see the car heading straight for her until it was too late. They were hit, the impact killing her instantly. Screeching tires and loud screams assailed the air. A man jumped out of the other cars, blood running from a cut on his forehead. Two woman were still in the other car, bleeding, but mostly uninjured. They were screaming. The man cursed as he saw the magnitude of the injuries Karen possessed. She was already dead, and she had no identification on her. The young girl who was later found in the back seat with no injuries, was screaming out loudly, her smoky gray eyes flashing. The woman who had been driving was never known. Chapter One Serena Tsukino ran down the sidewalks, almost tripping, but each time she would catch herself, and run frantically on. "I'm so late!!! Ms. H is going to kill me!" A red car slid up beside her, and actually made Serena stop. "Muffin?" she asked anxiously A dark head peeked out the window. "Yep, it's me, Meatball Head. Need a ride?" Serena didn't even have to think about it. She hopped into her boyfriend's car, giving him a quick kiss. "I love you. Thanks to you, I might actually get to school on time." Darien smiled gently. He was completely used to his girlfriend's attitude. Serena was late for school every day, unless she had accidentally got up on time. "I love you, Serena. She jumped out as he pulled up to the school, in front of all the students milling around outside the school, hurrying inside, gave him a big kiss. Darien smiled. "Let me guess, you're trying to make everyone jealous that you have a boyfriend in college with a car?" Serena nodded brightly, giving him another kiss. "Yes. I love you, Muffin." He smiled at her retreating back, and called out in hearing range of several popular girls that he knew Serena would die to have jealous of her, "I love you too, Serena." She turned and blew him a kiss, then ran up the steps, just as the ball rang. Darien smiled at her, then drove away. Serena rushed into the classroom, actually on time for once. Ms. Haruna and the rest of the class that was already sitting down, stared as she walked to her seat, grinning brightly. As Darien had guessed, having those girls jealous had made her day. Ms. Haruna probably afraid that if she mentioned it, something would go wrong, so she didn't say anything to Serena. She took roll call, and then class began. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pamela Angeline Michaels walked slowly down the street, taking in everything with her eyes. Years of hardships had made her cold inside, like her frozen gray eyes. She had been found in a car, with a dead woman. When the police had been unable to discover the identity of the woman, she had been put in an orphanage. It had been all right, as orphanages went, but she had always wanted more. She didn't even have a right to her name. Michaels had just been a random choice, and although more thought had been put into Pamela Angeline, it still wasn't really hers. Pam had always, always wanted more than a dreary orphanage for a home. For as long as she could remember, that had been her only wish. Pam had grown out her long blond hair, never cutting it, despite the protests of the nuns who liked girls to have short hair. It reached her ankles when she let it out, but in a French braid, as she often wore it, went to her knees. That day she had felt an urge to try something new. She had felt an inspiration, and had formed two buns, which somewhat looked like meatballs, then she had let two pigtails trail down. As she had put it up, it had felt right somehow. Like that was how her hair was meant to look. She had decided to wear it like that more often. Pam's life was always changing. People were leaving her "home" everyday, as they reached eighteen. Her best friend, Andrea, had turned eighteen, and moved out the week before. Just in time, as the orphanage they had lived in for the past five years closed down because funds were short. Pam had been moved to a home in Tokyo. Before, she had always lived in a home in the country, with home schooling. She would been starting school at Juuban High School the next day. Today she had moved, and having unpacked early, she had decided to wander the streets to check everything out. What Pamela really wanted was a family. It didn't have to have brothers and sisters, just parents who loved her. She wanted anyone to love her. She wanted a family more than she wanted anything. Pam heard the distant ringing of bells. School was out. She frowned. Tomorrow, she would be in school. It was scary, but also kind of exciting. After living in an orphanage her whole life, and only going to school with people she had been friends with her whole life. Now she would meet new people, make new friends. People whom she didn't have to be friends with because they were the only ones around. She could be friends with anyone she chose. People could choose to be friends with her. Pam smiled as teens her age ran by, talking to their friends. She smiled wistfully at them. One girl across the street waved at Pam, and stunned, she waved back. The girl smiled and called out, "Hey Serena, how'd you get changed so fast?" Before Pam could call out what she was talking about, the girl was gone. Pam frowned. 'What was she talking about? I don't know anyone named Serena. Maybe she wasn't waving at me after all.' But just as she thought that, Pam realized that she was the only kid around who wasn't wearing a uniform. Then the big thing came. Hands grabbed her from behind, and then she was looking into deep dark blue eyes. For a second, staring into the handsome face, it looked like he was going to kiss her. Suddenly, he let go. She gasped, and backed away, ready to run if he man seemed to come near her again. He frowned, staring in amazement at her face. "You're not Serena." She got angry. "Why does everyone keep calling me that. First that girl, and now you. What is with people here? Are you all completely deranged?" He searched her face, his eyes wide in what seemed to be shock. "You look exactly like my girlfriend, Serena Tsukino. The only reason I realized you weren't her was that instead of blue eyes, your eyes are gray." Pam sneered angrily. "Look, I don't know who you are." "The man blinked at her angry tone. "I'm Darien. Who are you?" Pam frowned, then decided it couldn't hurt to tell him her first name. "Pam. My name is Pam." He smiled in a way that she could tell that he was still in shock. "You even have her hairstyle. She wears her hair like that every day. It's her--- trademark." He paused a little on the last part, and she had a feeling that he wasn't telling the whole truth. She decided now was the time to get away. Turning, she started to run. She heard Darien yelling for her to come back, but she ignored him, running harder, heading towards her new home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Darien walked into Raye's temple, looking down at his feet, muttering to himself. Serena jumped up when he walked in, and ran over to him. She asked anxiously, with a tinge of anger, "Darien, why are you late? You're never late for meeting. When I got here before you, I was really worried." Raye said breezily, "I told you, Serena, he probably had to stay after school for something." Darien said comfortingly, "I was just busy, that's all. I'm fine. But I saw the most amazing thing. I saw a girl that looked exactly like you. She said her name was Pam." Serena frowned. "What do you mean, exactly like me? I have no idea how that could happen. Maybe she just looked a lot like me, not exactly like me." Darien frowned. "I don't think so. She was twin identical. The only reason I didn't think she was you, was that her eyes gray." He shook his head. "In the right light, they look blue, so that's why I thought she was you for a second." Serena blinked, and Amy said with confidence, "No one can look that much like her without sharing genes. It's impossible. And since Serena is actually from the Moon Kingdom, it's completely impossible. Maybe Serena's right, and you were just imagining it." Darien frowned, but didn't argue much more. "I know what I saw. And she said other people were calling her Serena." He nodded, and didn't say anything further. Raye frowned, and Lita was deep in thought. They didn't enter the conversation. Mina smiled distantly, and it was doubtful she had been listening, because Artemis had been talking to her about some guy she had met on her way over. But then she looked over at Darien, and smiled comfortingly. She had understood that he was uncertain. Darien didn't mention it to them again, because he knew that it had upset Serena, for some reason. And maybe even she didn't know the reason. Life was strange like that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pam took a deep breath. She checked the mirror again, and checked her reflection. She was wearing her school uniform, not new, of course, but a hand-me-down from another girl that had lived there before her. And she had decided to put her hair up like the day before. In two "meatballs". It was a blue sailor suit, and it was like the ones she had seen the other girls wearing the day before. Her gray eyes flashed with an inner light. It was her first day of real school. A nun, Sister Mary, knocked on the open door and peeked in. "Are you ready? You're going to be late." Pam frowned, and looked at her clock. "I'm ready." Sister Mary smiled. "Come on, you look wonderful. Let's go." Pam looked at her reflection one more time. "I look fine," she assured herself. She suddenly felt a tinge of dread. She sometimes got them. She knew, deep down, that something was going to happen, and soon. But she didn't know what. She turned and headed down the hall, to the stairs. She hurried down the stairs, and out the door, running towards to school, to excited to be scared. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Serena sat idly in her seat. She had been late today, but Ms. Haruna hadn't given her any detention, maybe because she had been on time the day before. Serena frowned as she thought back to what Darien had mentioned the day before. A girl identical to herself. She frowned. For some reason that had upset her. She had felt a need to deny it. She had felt. . . something. But she didn't know what. Ms. Haruna said sharply, "Serena! Pay attention!" She snapped to attention. "Sorry Ms. H, I was just thinking about something. I'll pay attention, I promise." Ms. H nodded, and Serena went back to thinking. She knew that something was going to happen. It was strange. She had never felt anything like it in her life, but somehow she knew something big was going to happen. Then a knock sounded on the door. Ms. Haruna smiled. "That must be our new student, Pamela Michaels. I hope everyone will be very nice to her. She has been schooled at home her whole life. Please make her welcome." Everyone muttered answers, but they were all waiting to see what Pamela was like. Ms. Haruna rolled her eyes, and went to open the door. She frowned at everyone, a silent reminder to be nice, and opened the door. And Pamela Michaels came in. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pam sent up a prayer, and walked into her new classroom. She forced herself to put on a smile. But it didn't take long to realize that no one was paying any attention to whether she was smiling. They were staring at her in horror, it seemed like. She didn't know why, but they were. She looked around, and it didn't take long for her to realized, too, why everyone was staring at her. A blond girl was sitting in a seat. And she had Pam's face! She was staring at Pam with wide eyes. She blinked, and rubbed her eyes. She began muttering under her breath, in what seemed to be a hysterical tone. "Oh, god!!" Pam whispered. She stumbled from her walk into the room. She was in the front, right by the desk. Pam grabbed on to the edge of it, trying to fight off the wave of confusion and dizziness that she suddenly felt. Pam looked at her in amazement, thinking any second this was all going to change, and she was going to find out it was a dream. Then, quite suddenly, she fainted, and before her eyes closed, she saw the other girl, most likely the mysterious Serena, sliding out of her seat, her face very pale. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Princess Serenity smiled out the window. She was on her balcony, looking over the beautiful garden. She looked around for any of her friends, the Princesses of the Inner planets, but none were around. She frowned in thought. "What are you doing? Mina and Raye went on official business, Amy's in the library, and Lita is practicing her fencing skills. They're all busy. Unless you want to go into the library to see how Amy is, but she would start bugging you about the whole, you hate to study thing." Serenity didn't turn around to look to see who it was. She had felt her coming down the hall. "Hello Faith. Why are you here?" Faith plopped down beside her sister. She smiled innocently. "What, I can't just come and see my own twin sister? I can't believe you would think I want anything." Serenity smiled teasingly at her sister, into the face that was identical to hers. She giggled. "Yes, of course. But I know that expression. You have a plan. One that will most likely get us into trouble. You always get in us in trouble." Faith smiled innocently. "Me? I would never do anything to get anyone in trouble. Nope, never." Serenity blinked, then giggled again. "You are the wild twin. It's your job to get us in trouble. But if we spy on any visitors again, Mother will have us skinned, you know it." Faith smiled. "Spy on people? How could you even say that I would EVER do that? No, that's not why I'm here." Serenity closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, they were twinkling. "You aren't going to color your hair again, are you? Mother nearly died when you came home with purple hair." Faith frowned. "It was bothering me the way everyone was confusing me for you, and I wanted to try a new look. But no one confused us until the dye wore off. That was wonderful." Serenity winced. "Which reminds me, remember that time you pretended to be me, and led the whole group of courtiers on a walk through the garden, and led them straight into the huge thornbush right outside the gate, and left them for hours? They were very upset" Faith smiled again. " Upset, sis? They were furious! But, I was getting help. I just. . . got distracted when I remembered I had a fitting for a new dress." Serenity continued. "You've practically attacked every prince that has come here to try to get me to marry them. It's really annoying. I want to meet them, at the very least. I want to fall in love." Faith was the one to wince this time. "I have to make sure they won't hurt you. Some of those guys were jerks." Serenity frowned. "Faith, you have a fiancee, so why won't you let me meet anyone, before you attack them? I want to get married within the next millennia." Faith smiled secretively. "You'll meet the perfect guy soon. I promise. Mother's having a ball tomorrow. One of those princes won't be an idiot, I'm sure of it." Serenity looked at her sister. Sometimes they could read each other's mind, but other times they could only get a general idea of what the other was thinking. But now, Serenity couldn't hear anything her twin was thinking. And that was very bad news. Faith definitely had a plan. Serenity sighed, then smiled. At least it would probably be fun. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pamela sat up slowly, groaning. "Oh, man. What's wrong with my head?" She forced her eyes open, and then immediately closed them. The light was so bright. A pleasant voice assaulted her ears. "You're awake. How does it feel?" She opened her eyes again, and kept them open. She was in a white room, a woman in a white uniform was leaning over her. "Where am I?" She smiled. "You're in the hospital. You fainted in your schoolroom, and when they couldn't wake you up, they called for an ambulance. Now, how do you feel?" Pamela blinked. "Well, my head heads a little bit, but that's all. What about the other girl, didn't someone else pass out at the same time as me?" The nurse clicked her tongue, and looked at a monitor. She seemed relieved by what she saw, and then she answered. "An ambulance was called for her also, but she woke up a few hours after she was admitted into the hospital. She was calling out for someone called Faith. It was very strange. But anyway, your parents are very anxious to see you." Pam frowned. "Parents? I don't have any parents." The nurse suddenly frowned, she cursed under her breath, and said quickly, "A lady from your home is going to come in to talk to you. She'll be in shortly once I tell her you're awake." Pam cried out, "Wait, what do you mean, my parents. What are you talking about?" But it was to late, and she had already left. Pam waited for a few minutes, and then Sister Mary walked in. She was smiling brightly at Pam, and although she was smiling, worry seemed etched into her forehead. "Hello Pamela. The nurse tells me that I can talk to you now." Pamela said frantically, "Sister Mary, what was she talking about? She said something about my parents. I don't have any parents, right? What's going on? I can feel it, something's about to happen." Sister Mary smiled. "I was looking forward to getting to know you, Pamela. But it seems that your parents are alive. The girl you saw, the one that made you faint in shock, do you remember her?" Pam nodded, anxious to know what was going on. "Yes, what about her?" Sister Mary smiled again. "She's your twin sister. Identical twin, to be exact. I've met her, and the resemblance is remarkable. You were kidnapped by your baby-sitter when you were one week old, and they have been looking for you ever since. It seems your real name is Faye Tsukino. You hadn't been given a middle name yet. The thing is, Serena, your twin, was stunned to see you too, because her parents thought it best if she never knew that you existed. She'll very upset with her parents, but very anxious to see you." Pam blinked. "I'm going to see them? You just come in here, tell me I have a twin sister, and a family, and just expect me to see them? I don't want to see them. But the whole name thing is cool. Is my name going to be changed?" Sister Mary's face convulsed in shock. "Of course you have to see them, they're your family. And yes, because you had already been legally named, your name is going to be changed on the records to Faye, as soon as possible. And also to add to that family, you have a younger brother. His name is Sammy." Pam looked angry. "I don't want a family. I'm perfectly happy the way I am. But I'm glad that my name won't be Pamela. I hate that name." Sister Mary frowned. "Fine, we can't make you see them until the hospital discharges you, which could be a week, since they need to run tests on why you would faint. But you're going to have to go home with them once they do. They are your family." Pam set her jaw stubbornly. Sister Mary shook her head briefly, then walked out. The second she knew for certain that she was gone, Pam groaned. "What am I doing? I want a family. It's my wish. I should be overjoyed. Why do I feel so scared?" She frowned. Maybe she was scared. Maybe that is why she had acted to strange. Maybe. 'But that excuse would work, if I ever got scared,' Pam thought stubbornly. 'But I never get scared. Never.' ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Serena eyes widened. "What did you say? She doesn't want to see us? Why not?" The woman, a nun, shrugged her shoulders apologetically. "I have no idea. I thought she'd be ecstatic. She seemed shocked, and then protective. I told her she'd be going home with you, but I don't thinks he's really let any of this sink in." Serena started grasping for straws. "I want to see her. Can't you just ask her if she'll see me? Just me? Please!" Serena had decided that if she had to, she would resort to begging. The nun frowned, and paused for a second. "Well, I could see if she wants to see you alone. If it's okay with your parents, of course." Serena turned to her mother. "Please, I know you really want to see her, but I want to meet her. Please!" She was desperate. Her mother glanced at Kenji, and he lowered his shoulders in defeat. "Yes. But please tell her we care about her, and we want to see her so much." Serena smiled happily. "Oh, I will. I promise." The woman smiled hesitantly. "Then I'll go ask her. I'll be sure to tell her how much it means to you." Serena smiled. "Then go on. I want to meet my twin." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pam sat inn her bed, frowning at the wall. She still couldn't understand why she had refused to see all of them. "What am I doing?" "I don't know." Pam turned to see Sister Mary walking into the room. She was stone-faced. "Serena would like me to ask if only she can come in here to see you. She wants to meet you very much. She seems very nice, and she seems to want to meet you." Sister Mary was obviously going to argue valiantly in Serena's defense, if she had to. Pam frowned. "She really wants to meet me?" Sister Mary smiled teasingly. 'Yes, she would like to meet her mirror image. She practically begged me to go ask you. Your parents really want to see you." Pam frowned, and looked at the wall again. "Well, I suppose maybe she could come in. I want to see what I would look like with blue eyes. I didn't get a good look." Sister Mary smiled. "Well, I'll go tell her. She'll be very happy." She went out the door, and a few seconds later, the door opened. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Chapter One --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I hope all of you out there liked it! I know that the parts of "To Lose Love" I have put out so far haven't been very long, so I did my best to make this longer. Chapter Two should be out next week! Seeya, ~Acacia
