I'd like to thank my two good friends, Guine and Bettina. Your letters have meant a lot to me, as have your insights into my work. If I haven't told both of you that, I'm sorry. All standard disclaimers apply. On with Chapter Three! ------------------------------------------------------------------- Finding Faith- Chapter Three By Acacia Aben ------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter Three Faye slurped up the rest of her vanilla milkshake. "Yes, I've had boyfriends, Lita. They just never lasted. I lived in the house my whole life, and a lot of guys were my age. After getting to know all of them, and being friends with them, I just felt close, and I mistook that for love." Serena smiled. "You never told me you had a boyfriend." Faye shrugged. "It wasn't a big deal." She suddenly brightened, and shot a jealous look at Amy's half full chocolate milkshake. "But I've been meaning to bring something up. After I passed out or whatever, I had the strangest dream. It was in a white room, with me and you, Serena, only those weren't our names. I can't quite remember all of it though. Did you have that dream?" They were in a small cafe. It was after the meeting in the temple, and Darien had left. Mina had decided that they needed some good shakes to go with Lita's great food, so they had headed downtown. Serena shook her head indifferently. "No, I don't think so. I dreamt of Darien." Amy shared a look with Luna, who had followed them, along with Artemis. Artemis and Luna shared a look, and nodded to Amy, careful not to speak. Amy cleared her throat. "Faye, what else do you remember about the dream?" Faye narrowed her eyes. "Why do you want to know?" Raye's eyes suddenly widened, and Luna, who had snuck up to her shoulder, and had 'purred' into her ear, jumped to the table, and climbed back to Amy's side. "Amy's just wondering. So, what do you remember?" Faye kept her eyes narrowed, and for a second, everyone held their breaths. Then she cocked her head, and squinted her eyes in renewed memory. "Well, My name wasn't Faye, but something close to that. Serena's name I remember though. Serenity, that was what I called her. She was talking about how much trouble I got her in, and how I wouldn't let her meet any cute guys. She was jealous that I was already engaged, but she wasn't really angry. I just laughed, and told her she'd meet someone soon." Then her eyes lit up again. "Faith, that was my name. Serenity kept saying it. My name was Faith." Serena and Mina choked on the drink of shake they were taking at the same time. Lita barely managed to avoid the same fate. Amy nodded slightly, and Raye's eyes widened in surprise, but not shock. Mina finished choking, and gasped out the name. "Serenity? Um, really? Are you sure?" Serena turned red and denied understanding it. "Serenity? Don't be silly. My name has never, ever been Serenity. Never." Lita coughed a couple of times, and tried to look innocent. "What a strange dream. I've never had one anything slightly similar to it. Ever." Faye raised her eyebrows and gave that very famous expression, like "Ooookay, they're insane." She nodded her head and smiled in a talking to lunatics way. "Yeah, sure, of course. Whatever you say." Serena smiled, relieved, and sat back in her seat. "Well, all right. I suppose that I can just forget you ever said it." Faye frowned. "What did I say?" Serena frowned back. "Um, well. Never mind. Long story." Faye nodded again, a perplexed expression on her face. "All right." ------------------------------------------------------------------ Faye headed slowly away from the temple. She had a strange expression on her face. She was thinking about earlier, about everyone's strange behavior. Then she considered everything that had happened. "Okay," she muttered quietly. "I tell them about my dream. No one cares, but Amy, and after a few minutes, Raye. They listen silently, and don't freak out about anything but the name Serenity. Then they freak out majorly, except Amy, who seems to expect it. Raye seems startled, but not shocked, like everyone else." She shook her head. "So, where does that leave me?" Then it hit her. She had left before everyone else. Serena and the girls had gone back to Raye's. She groaned. "I should have stayed with them to see how they reacted after a longer period of time. Or, at least go back and spy on the and see what they say about it." She turned suddenly, and ran back towards the temple. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Faye snuck up to a hole in the wall. The girls were in Raye's room, deep in conversation. Darien was there, Faye could identify his voice, and all the girls, but there were two voices she didn't recognize, a girl and a guy. "I can't believe it! Faye was my sister there too? What am I going to tell her?" Serena wailed. A girls voice, one that Faye didn't recognize. "Oh, come on Serena. Please tell me you have at least wondered about how you can have a sister. A twin sister! You aren't even really related to anyone DNA- wise around here, except Mina. You two were first cousins." Raye agreed. "Really Serena. How can you be so stupid?" Mina's voice was surprised. "Serena and I were cousins? How come you never told us that Luna? Even Artemis never mentioned it to me, and he lives at my house." Serena responded angrily. "Well, Luna lives at my house, and she never mentioned it to me! Artemis never tells us anything." A guy's voice, most likely the before mentioned Artemis, curtly replied, "That's not true. I gave you all plenty of info. I just relaxed once I caught up with all you guys." Faye had been pressing her ear to the hole, so she could hear better, but she couldn't stand it She put her eye up to the hole when Artemis began to talk. That was the one sole thing in the world that caused her become speechless. Artemis was a cat, and apparently Luna was too. Talking cats. She relaxed, and kept her eye up to the hole, because although she couldn't hear as well, she could understand them. Amy tried to keep the weird bunch on track. "Come on you guys. We've got to figure out what to do. Faye is undoubtedly Princess Serena's twin sister. Younger, I think. I have no idea why we didn't know about her sooner, but we have to deal with this." Darien nodded. "I agree. Sooner or later she's going to find out about everything, once she catches Serena sneaking out at night a couple times. She isn't exactly quiet, and she usually yells when Luna wakes her up. She won't know why Serena's up, but after certain coincidences, like Sailor Moon fighting on the same night, then she will figure it out. She's not dense." Faye's eyes widened. Amy nodded. "And, since Serena and Faye are identical twins, I don't think the disguise power will work on her. If she saw a picture of Sailor Moon, then she would be able to tell that Sailor Moon is Serena. And once she figures that out, finding out the rest of our identities will be a piece of cake." Faye gasped and fell away from the hole in the wall. Raye heard her, and looked sharply in her direction. Then for the second time in her life, Faye blacked out, making a loud thud as her body hit the ground. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (Just after the battle with Beryl in the Moon Kingdom) Faith was sitting in her room, thinking of the wedding she was going to have with Kyle, her fiancee. She smiled. It had been a week since she had come to his kingdom to prepare for the wedding. It was in a week, and her mother was coming in a few days, along with her sister, Serenity, and Sere's fiancee, Endymion, from the planet Earth. Faith smiled. She had fell in love with Kyle the instant she had seen him. He had proposed a few weeks after they had met, claiming he had fallen in love with her the instant he had seen her. He was the prince of a planet very far away from Earth, called Tiranita, under another sun. Her mother had been very happy, not only because Faith was so happy, but because Kyle wasn't from the Moon Kingdom. His people weren't friendly with hers, and this could mean a more peaceful existence. Suddenly she felt it. A horrible pit of grief and desperation, and despair. It was Serenity's emotions. Faith clutched her stomach, unable to bear it for even a second. But she knew what it meant. Death. Serenity had lost Endymion. Then it all stopped. Everything. Faith was so stunned, for a second she couldn't comprehend what it meant. Then she shook her head in refutation. "No, no. No, Sere." Serenity was gone too. Faith searched every inch of her mind for the smallest part of it that Serenity's thoughts and emotions usually were. There was nothing. Faith shook her head and raised her voice in a howl of grief. Her sister was dead. And most likely her mother and all their friends. Kyle slammed open her door. His bright emerald eyes were worried. "Faith, what's wrong? Why were you yelling?" Faith looked up at him with empty eyes, "She's dead. They're all dead. Kyle, I've got to make sure. I've got to go help, if even anyone is left." Kyle searched her face, knowing that she wouldn't be talked out of it. He nodded, "Of course. Just let me go get a ship, the we'll be there right away, I promise. Just wait for them to get the ship ready. It shouldn't take long." Faith reached out and grabbed his hand. Her eyes pleaded with his. "I'm so sorry Kyle." He opened his mouth to ask why, but it was to late. His Faith had made her decision, and although she was a joker, and never took anything seriously, her decisions were never undone once she made them. "Moon Eclipse Eternal Power!" In a flash, Faith was gone, and Princess Serenity's closest protector, Sailor Moon Eclipse, was standing in her place. Kyle's eyes widened, and he grabbed her hand, as if he could somehow keep her there. "No Faith. I need you. You can't leave me. You'll be killed if Beryl is still there. Assuming it was even Beryl." Sailor Moon Eclipse, her name meant to strike fear into the hearts of those seeing her, watched as her violet fuku appeared in her final transformation stages. "It was Beryl. I shouldn't have left them yet. I should have waited. I love you Kyle, I always will." He realized what she was saying. "Faith, no! You can't leave me." She took his hand, hating to even wait this long. "I love you. You know that if you were in my position, you would already be gone." He didn't do anything for a second. "Yes, I know. Once you get there, you don't get yourself killed, all right? I need you. I'm going to get there as soon as I can. Wait for me to get there before you do anything rash, all right?" Faith smiled. "I will, I promise. I love you." He smiled in response, and she took a step back. He reached out and held her hand. She smiled slightly at him. "MOON ECLIPSE POWER TELEPORT!" She stayed there for two more seconds, then her small figure shimmered out of existence. Here, anyway. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Faith opened her eyes when she shimmered into existence on the Moon. Instantly, she wished that she could just keep them closed. It was ruined. The beautiful world was gone and in it's place was a war- torn battlefield. A tear slipped down her cheek. But that wasn't the bad thing. No one was there Everything was silent. Sailor Moon Eclipse walked slowly out of the doorway in which she had appeared. It was then that she saw them. Her friends, the scouts, were lying on the ground, unmoving. She ran at top speed, tripping several times, sobbing helplessly. She reached Mercury first, blood-stained throat causing Faith to stop crying. It was to horrible to be covering in simple tears. She stared in silent horror, then went to the next body. Venus was next, her stomach gutted out. Holding back vomit, Faith reached out for a pulse. There was none. It was the same with Mars, who had been stabbed through the heart. Jupiter was last, and Faith cried for her. Lita was her best friend. Close like sisters. Raye was Serenity's best friend, but even they weren't as close as Faith and Lita. Lita seemed to have no wounds, but blood seeped out from her back. She had been stabbed in the back. It was hard to notice, because she was face up. Faith slowly sat down next to her body. "What happened, Lita? Why didn't you call me? Why didn't I know that this was happening?" Faith got up, suddenly unable to be near it. She didn't look back, to empty inside to feel the losses anymore. She passed Serenity's body, next to Endymion's. She couldn't look at them any longer than she had to. She only made sure that it was their bodies. She reached her mother's body last. Other bodies were littered around, but she couldn't see them, only her mothers body, clutching something to herself. Faith pried open her mothers hands, knowing what it would be inside. The Imperial Silver Crystal. She reached out to gently pick it up with a small bag that she had grabbed from her mother's side. Then she reached into a pouch at her side and took out a bright violet stone, crystal clear, that matched her fuku exactly. She grabbed the bag with the crystal in her other hand. She slowly said, "Moon Eclipse Crystal! Show me the light of one hour ago!" She yelled. "Show me what has happened to my family and my friends." Nothing happened for a few seconds. Then, inside the crystal, incredible changes began. She saw the events that had happened. After it was done, she put the violet stone back in the pouch. Then she held up the other bag, and smiled sadly. "I'm sorry, Kyle. I'm so sorry. I have to break my promise. I love you, but I want to be with my sister, and my friends. I'm leaving." She knew that he would try to follow her, and if he didn't do the right thing, he would die. All he had to do was touch the crystal, and it would send him to the future with her. But he might not know that. She smiled. "I'm going to see you soon, Sere. I promise." She reached out and took the crystal out of the bag. In a bright flash of light, Faith fell to the ground, a small smile on her face, the crystal clutched in her still hand. She stopped breathing, and her soul flew to Earth. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kyle walked out on the surface of a planet he had only seen for the first time the year before. He knew deep inside that if he ever saw Faith again, she wouldn't be alive. The smell was overpowering. He passed body after body, searching only for his Faith. Once he saw her, he wished he hadn't. She was transformed sill, and it was unlikely she had ever detransformed. She was lying unmarked a few inches away from her mothers also unmarked body. He ran as fast as he could, wishing he had let anyone come with him. Anyone. He reached her body, and knelt down beside her, searching for a pulse before he even realized it. She was dead. Tears tracked down his cheeks. He cradled her body in his arms. Noticing for the first time that she was holding something in her hand. He slowly reached out, as if sensing that this would be the thing that would take his life, pulled her hand open. Seeing the crystal, he reached out to touch it, not wondering why she had been holding it so tightly. In another flash of light, his body lay motionless. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Raye threw a bucket of water on Faye. She jerked up, suddenly awake. "What did you do that for," she asked numbly, still not understanding what was going on. Raye put her hands on her hips. "You were spying on us." Serena's eyes were hurt. "Why were you spying? I thought you were better than that." Faye suddenly comprehended where she was and what was going on. "Apparently I had a reason to spy. I knew you were keeping something from me, and now I know I was right. You're all the Sailor Scouts. I heard you say Serena was Sailor Moon." Then she remembered her dream, and she closed her eyes in renewed memory. "Raye is Mars, Amy is Mercury, Mina is Venus, and Lita is Jupiter. Darien is Endymion, and in his form he wears some sort of cape, and a tuxedo. I don't know his name though." Amy looked surprised. "We never were specific, all except Serena, who we mentioned. And you've never even heard of Tuxedo Mask. You couldn't possibly know all of that. Especially about Endymion. How do you know all this?" Faye smiled weakly. "I had a dream, " she admitted, opening her eyes and staring off out the window in a distant way. "You were all dead, and I was so sad. I could feel Serenity, or rather Serena, die. I felt her pain when he died. And I couldn't even do anything. I was with Kyle, on his planet, far away from the Moon. We were going to get married, and I left, even though he didn't want me to. I came and saw all your bodies, and you were all dead. I saw Serenity by Endymion, and I cried. But Mother was clean, not bloody, and I used my crystal to look into the past somehow. Then I touched the silver crystal, and I was dead too. I felt my soul leaving." Serena started to cry, and Faye's eyes went empty. "There was so much blood," she whispered. "So much blood." Then she collapsed again, and Lita barely caught her before she hit the temple floor. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lita and Mina half-carried, half-dragged, Faye to Faye's bed. She was out cold, her face icy-pale. Serena walked behind everyone, her face white, the same color as Faye's, only for a different reason. Raye walked into the room with a cool cloth in her hands She put it on Faye's forehead. Then she stood up. "What are we going to do? She knows who we are. She knew, all be herself. She's one of us. Maybe not a scout, but one of us, from the Silver Millennium." Lita nodded. "She's right. We need to decide now, whether we want to or not. How do we deal with this?" Mina frowned. "She's Serena's sister, in this life, and that life. She is one of us, that I'll agree with. But since she is one of us, it's her right to know about everything." Serena blurted out, "I don't remember her. Not at all. The few memories I do have of that time are of being in love with Darien, and of the battle with Beryl. And that isn't very much, at that. I want to remember her, anything about her." Raye frowned. "So, actually, we have no proof anything she said is true. She could have been on Beryl's side, for all we know, and that is why she wasn't there." Serena grimaced, and Mina shot Raye a ferocious look. Lita looked hurt. "That's not true. I know people, and Faye is a good person. She is on our side, and she always has been," Lita argued. Amy said softly, "There's something you're overlooking." Mina turned. "What's that?" Luna's eyebrows raised. Amy smiled a little. "Before we make a decision, I think we had better review exactly what Faye said happened back then." Raye grew impatient. "Look, it's simple. She was gone, felt the battle with Beryl, or rather, felt Serena's pain, came home, saw what happened, and touched the crystal, which made her die, and come here." Amy smiled. "How did she say that she knew what happened?" Lita frowned, then her eyes went wide, "She said she used her crystal." Amy nodded, "Yes! And the Silver Crystal was Serenity's inheritance, and even then, it wasn't even Serenity's yet. Faith, the Princess, BUT NOT HEIR, had a crystal of her own use. She is one of us, probably more than she knows. She's, most likely, a scout." Faye, on Raye's bed, groaned softly. She opened her eyes, and then, immediately, guilt filled them. Serena smiled, and quickly went over to help her up. Faye smiled. "Thanks Sere, but I'm surprised you're not mad at me, after I spied on you." Serena smiled, "Don't be silly. We were a little upset, but not really angry. I was never mad at you." Faye smiled back at Serena, and tried to stand up. She didn't even make it halfway up. She fell back down to the floor, and cried out. She curled into a fetal position, and tears rolled down her cheeks. Serena quickly bent to help her up, but Faye pushed her away. She gasped as she forced herself back up. Then she looked at Amy. "What's wrong with me? I'm not hurt. Why can't I stand up? Why do I keep fainting? I'm not sick, I'm not injured." No one asked why she knew to ask Amy. No one had the time. Amy quickly grabbed her computer, and scanned Faye. But it was almost too late. Faye fell back down, and stopped breathing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Princess Faith of the Moon came in second. Second to her sister, Serenity, the Crown Princess. Second in everything, except love. In that, they were equal. But second to all else, yes. Second to be introduced, second to be asked to dance. Second to be noticed. But never second to be loved by their mother. Queen Serenity loved both her daughters the same. And they loved her the same. Don't get it wrong, Faith loved her sister, and she didn't begrudge her the right to be first in everything. Serenity would be queen, and that gave her the right to be first. And Faith didn't even really want to be first. She stayed in the background, out of sight, at least enough to get away with playing jokes, for doing things Serenity wasn't permitted to do. So she was never jealous. She had everything she wanted, and Serenity had everything she had. Serenity didn't necessarily want to be first, because she didn't really care. The only thing Serenity cared about was happiness. And not only her own, but her entire families', and everyone she cared about. Serenity wasn't only a princess by birth, she was a princess of the heart. Faith smiled at her sister. They were eating at a banquet, in the honor of the royal family of Tiranita. The princes, Christopher and Kyle, were very handsome, green eyed and black haired. Christopher winked jokingly at her, smiling broadly. Faith smiled distractedly at Christopher's wink. He seemed like a nice guy, but Kyle just seemed like a jerk. She had met him momentarily at their arrival on the moon, but he had greeted her mother and her sister, and just plain ignored Faith. She wouldn't have taken that much offense, but his greeting of her mother had been rude. She had waited until she had gotten back in her room to punch her pillow to vent her anger. Kyle was ignoring her again. Faith seethed silently, under the table, she twisted the napkin on her lap silently, thinking horrible thoughts of revenge. She felt a gentle touch on her shoulder. Lita, Princess of Jupiter, was sitting beside her. Lita leaned over. They were best friends, and Lita could often just tell what was on Faith's mind. She smiled. "Hey, calm down, girl. I know he's not being precisely a gentleman, but you've got to relax. Everyone's starting to notice." Faith shot a look around. Her mother was glancing at her, worry creasing her forehead. Serenity was pretending nothing was wrong, but Faith could feel the worry for her in Serenity's mind. The King of Tiranita was staring openly at he vengeful looks at Kyle, and The Queen was smiling in a confused manner. Christopher was oblivious, but not Kyle. He was looking back at her with a mocking smile on his face. Raye and Amy, sitting beside Serenity, were also pretending nothing was wrong. On Faith's other side, Mina looked a bit confused too. She was Faith's other best friend. She leaned over. "What's going on with you? Calm down. Everyone's feeling your anger, and it's upsetting the negotiations." Tiranita wasn't part of the Moon Kingdom, and they were trying to establish a sort of relation between the two kingdoms. Faith flushed. She was messing everything up. She jumped up, her face bright red, a thing that almost never happened. "I'm sorry, I'm not feeling very well. May I be excused?" Before Queen Serenity could even open her mouth, Faith was already out the door, leaving it wide open. Kyle jumped up too. He smiled brightly. "I'm sorry, but I'm not feeling very well myself. May I be excused?" When his mother smiled tentatively, he nodded, and headed out the door. Once he closed it behind him, everyone could hear as he began to run in the same direction that Faith had gone. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Faith stopped in the garden, gasping for breath. It had been hard to run in her dress, so she had transformed on her way out the door. No one dared stop Sailor Moon Eclipse, not as they would have stopped Princess Faith. Sailor Moon didn't really exist, not as a reality. Only the Queens and Future queens by birth could be Sailor Moon, but none of them had actually transformed in all of history. In fact, never had any Queen borne two children. A curse it seemed, was on the family. Every King had died before he could even see his children. So, When Faith had been born, it had been a shock. She had the ability to transform, but she didn't have a name. When Faith had been six, and was called to transform, her mother had came up with her name. Their father had been of the sun kingdom, but there was already a Sailor Sun, so she had been given the power of light. Blinding bright light. In an eclipse, you can be blinded, so hence the name, Sailor Moon Eclipse. She quickly regained her breath, and started to rum again. Jumping and leaping over benches, she put herself through hard training exercises. She went all out, sweating as she leaped and flipped at top speed, being barely able to see where she was going. She saw the fountain too late. She tripped over the edge, hit her head, and was knocked unconscious. She wasn't able to see herself falling face first into the three foot deep water. Faith woke up with a start. She was on her back, and instantly she turned to her side and heaved up a mixture of water from the fountain, and vomit. She kept throwing up for a few minutes, glad for the arms that were around her shoulders, holding her face to the side so she didn't choke. When she finished, face streaked by tears, she felt herself falling asleep, fainting. Through her unwilling tears, all she could see of the person holding her head in his lap was a pair of deep green eyes, and a halo of dark hair. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kyle smoothed back the Princess's hair. He frowned. She was pretty cold, shivering a lot. He looked around, and his eyes widened. "Wow, we're along way from the palace. She sure moves fast. I'm surprised I even kept up with her." "So am I," a groggy sounding voice said. "No one else has every been able to keep up with me when I'm going that fast." Kyle looked down, and smiled softly. "You're awake. I thought you'd be asleep for a while." Faith sat up, pushing herself up off his lap. "I'm awake. I'm okay, really." Kyle said sarcastically, "Right. You're fine. I'll be sure to remember that another time I catch you laying on the ground, not breathing" Faith scowled. "Fine. So, I needed your help. But I'm just fine now, so relax. I need to get back home." She stood up, and after a couple tries, she made it. She held her head for a second. Kyle smiled. "I saw what happened. You tripped over the root of a bush and slammed straight into the fountain. It wasn't very pretty. You have a nasty bruise on your forehead." He reached out to touch it, and Faith felt a jolt of pain. After a second, the pain went away, but his hand stayed. He smiled a little. "On Tiranita, we can heal people. You no longer have a bruise." Her hand came up to cover his, pressing down softly to test if the pain was gone. It was. She suddenly realized that his hand was still on her temple, under hers. It made her feel very strange. A funny feeling was churning around her stomach. She stared into his eyes. They had been a very clear, bright green, like an emerald. They were darker now, almost black, it seemed. She stared deep into them. Their lips were an inch apart. She pulled away, looking around in confusion. Kyle blinked. He seemed confused. Faith frowned, and turned on him, "I don't like you. I think you're a jerk. You were rude to my mother, and to me." Kyle frowned. "When?" Faith frowned again. "You didn't greet her when you arrived. You completely ignored me, and the only person you were even slightly polite to was my sister, Serenity." Kyle shook his head. "I didn't know." He smirked. "Maybe I was rude by your standards, but on our planet, I'm not allowed to greet anyone. The second in line isn't allowed to say anything. I'm only allowed to talk to the one next in line to throne. You're second in line, so I wasn't allowed to talk to you. I just assumed that you had the same customs, because you never said anything to me." Faith's mouth opened wide. She turned bright red. She had never thought that he had a really good explanation. She looked at the ground, and then looked back up, her red face explaining a lot. "I'm sorry, I never let you explain." She opened her mouth to say how impulsive she was, but she couldn't, because at hat moment, Kyle leaned down and kissed her firmly on her lips. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Chapter Three ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I hope you liked it!
